Jacob A. Brasure & Laura Savage

13 Jun 1868: Jacob was born in Sussex County, DE, the son of James Alfred Brasure and Catherine Hudson.

Nov 1874: Laura A. Savage was born in Virginia.

5 Aug 1892: Jacob Brasure, a 21 year old farmer, son of Alfred and Catharine Brasure, married seventeen year old Laura Laura Savage, daughter of Isaac J. and Patience Savage, in Chincoteague, Accomack County, VA.  J. T. Workman performed the ceremony.[1] 

1900 Census, The Islands District, Accomack County, VA: Oysterman Jacob A. Brasure age 31, born Jun 1868, DE DE DE, married for 8 years; Laura A. age 25, born Nov 1874, VA DE VA; Bessie L. age 6, born Mar 1894 in VA; Clarence J. age 2, born May 1898 in VA.  The family was listed close to Elijah D. [Jacob's cousin, son of Joshua H. Brashure] and Mary A. Brasure.[2]

30 Apr 1910 Census, Chincoteague, Accomack County, VA ("Main County Road Up Neck") Retail grocer Jacob A. Brasure 39, MD DE DE, married for 17 years; Laura A. 35, VA DE VA; Bessie L. 16, VA MD VA; Clarence J. 11; Floyd 5; boarder William T. Melvin 16, VA PA PA, a clammer.[3]

21 Jan 1920 Census, Accomack County, VA (Island District): Retail grocery merchant Jacob A. Brasure 49, VA VA VA; Laura A. 45, VA DE VA; oysterman Clarence J. 21, VA VA VA; Floyd A. 15.[4]

21 Apr 1930 Census, Accomack County, VA (Islands District, Chincoteague Magisterial District): Retail grocery merchant Jake A. Brasure 58, DE DE DE, married at age 20; Laura A. 55, VA DE VA, married at age 17, owner of a home worth $700; Nellie C. age 8, VA DE VA.  They were listed close to the families of [Jacob's cousin] Elijah D. Brasure and [Jacob's son] Clarence J. Brasure.[5]  Elijah was the son of Joshua Brasure. Was Nellie a granddaughter?

1938: Jacob A. Brasure died.

12 Sep 1918: Clarence Janis [or Janes] Brasure, age 20, born 20 May 1898, registered for the draft .  Employed as a "refeujater [very hard to read] engineer" for Delmarva Light Company, he was described as medium height and build, with black hair, gray eyes, and no physical disabilities.
